FRITZ LIVED ON THE POST, AS A CHILD, FROM 1946 TO 1951. HERE IS ONE OF HIS CHILDHOOD PHOTOS WHICH HE OBTAINED FROM FRANZ IN JANUARY OF 2005

 

Winter 1947: Chief Warrant Officer Carl C.Hoyer of Phoenix/AR had started a 4-H Club with the kids from Camp King and the remaining farm. It was located in the old dance floor room of the .......Hotel. He and "his kids" are inspecting the pedigree number in "bugs bunny's" ear. That little boys face to the left of CWO Hoyer belongs to Fritz A. Berendsen and that little girl to the right with the wool cap on is his sister Christine. Both are still alive today 69 and 67 years old. They are the children of Maj.Gen. Fritz Berendsen, who was the last CinC of The General Staff School ,Berlin (Kriegsakademie) Fritz jr. now lives in Marietta/Ga. At the age of 19, eleven years after this picture was taken ,Christine presented President Eisenhower with the American Field Service Medal at the White House Rose Garden.
